An example of a Full Share, August 2, 2011.
We provide local families with a wide variety of seasonal produce, which is available for pick up each week. By purchasing a share in the CSA (Community Supported Agriculture), you are not only entitled to fresh produce each week for 28 weeks, but you become part of our farm community, helping to preserve a working farm and providing for the stewardship of our farmland by supporting sustainable agricultural practices.

Details about when the 2012 season begins are to come. Shares are now available for purchase. Click here to print, fill in, and mail us a commitment form, along with check payable to Asbury Village Farm.

This spring will offer members fresh greens, scallions, carrots, beets, broccoli, lettuces, turnips and more. Throughout the year, the produce supplied to members changes as the season changes. See the What We Offer page for more details.

Not sure what a CSA is? A Community Supported Agriculture is a farm or garden in which members of the local community purchase "shares" or memberships, in exchange for a weekly supply of freshly grown and harvested vegetables. Some CSAs offer meats, dairy products and/or eggs; ours is entirely vegetables, plus a few fruits (this year, cantaloupes and watermelons). At our CSA, members may choose a Tuesday or Friday pick-up day, and are responsible for coming to the farm and collecting their produce from our Distribution Center (located in the barn) from week to week. Those who purchase work shares receive a discounted share price and agree to work 3 hours per week at the farm (see the Work Share info page for details).

Being a part of a CSA is not just about getting high-quality locally grown food, it's also about helping to build a more sustainable way of life. The "village farm" is a lost custom from simpler times which is gaining popularity as people become more aware of our planet's environmental plight, and the need for "greener" practices. Buying local food uses a tiny fraction of the earth's resources when compared to food trucked in from all over the world. Furthermore, at our farm we use gardening practices which enrich the land rather than pollute it. We don't use any harmful pesticides, herbicides or fungicides, chemical fertilizers or genetic modification. We do use crop rotation, "green manure" a.k.a. cover crops, and natural soil amendments. Behind all that we do, we have the health of our community and our planet as our main goal.

A member picks up her share at the first distribution in May, 2011.

In addition to the environmental benefits, our CSA offers fresh vegetables for less cost than a supermarket, which can only sell food which has been picked up to a week ago and has sat on a truck for days upon days, steadily losing freshness and nutritional value. For approximately $25 per week (for a full share) and $13 per week (for a half share), you receive a bounty of the freshest possible local produce.
